Faculty of Resource Science & Technology (FRST) is a faculty that aspires to be a major centre for learning and research, and the preferred choice for students and researchers in natural resource science and technology. Accordingly, the faculty introduces an integrated curriculum and academic programmes, capable of meeting the demands, challenges, and changes of the 21st century. The faculty emphasises on innovative, multidiscipline, quality and practical-based curriculum design and research programmes, relevant to the socio-economic development of the country. In addition, the faculty aims to play a major role in the advancement of science and technology in the country through active participation in technology transfer and promotion of co-operation between universities, government agencies, and industries.

The faculty aspires to be a renowned centre of learning and research in science and technology related to the natural resources.

Mission

The faculty is committed to achieve excellence through high quality and relevant teaching-learning and research activities related to management and utilization of natural resources in various fields of science and technology.

Message from the Dean

http://www.frst.unimas.my/images/stories/hasnain%202.jpgThis faculty is one of the two pioneering faculties in UNIMAS established for the university's first student intake in July 1993. The focus of academic and research programmes at the faculty is on areas related to the science, technology, management, and sustainable exploitation of natural resources which is abundant in Malaysia,  particularly in Sarawak.

Students can opt to specialise in animal science, plant science, aquatic biology, biotechnology, and chemistry; all of which have wide applications and offer numerous employment opportunities. In research, the faculty has the technological expertise and modern laboratory facilities to conduct various projects related to the management and prudent exploitation of natural resources. This in turn supports various postgraduate programmes (MSc & PhD) especially those which are research-based.

The Faculty's mission is to establish itself as a major centre for research and learning in science and technology associated with natural resources. Our new facilities in the West Campus is aimed at fulfilling this mission and marked a new chapter in our short but eventful history. The "Main Building" and the "Wet Laboratory" house state of the art equipment and laboratories that make us one of the best equipped science-based faculties in the country. We invite you to be part of this exciting environment geared to meet new challenges in teaching-learning, research and inquiry.

The Faculty is committed to the promotion of both exploratory and fundamental sciences, and also industry-oriented research.
