SYNOPSIS

This course introduces the fundamentals and characteristics of sound waves in solid, air and water, and sources of ambient noise. Students are introduced to various acoustics concepts and criteria, and to design for a safe and optimum acoustics both in room and outdoor. Then the concept of sonar, such as field of application, transducer technology, sonar equations and processing will be emphasized.  This topic will be extended to details characteristics and operations of passive and active sonar.
