Master of Advanced Information Technology (MAIT)

IT professionals practitioners today are seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in order to further their careers. In response to this demand, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) is offering a flexible, modular-type Masters of Advanced IT (MAIT) Programme. The Programme is offered on a full-time and part-time basis and is organised through a combination of courses and a project/dissertation. This certificate has been awarded the MSC Status Certificate in November 2003. Specifically, the programme offers the following advantages:

  • The Programme is open to candidates from the IT industry who want to tailor their postgraduate studies according to their need or that of their employers.
  • The flexible modular structure allows the candidates to arrange their study schedule without compromising their current career plans and earning potential.
  • Before continuing with their specialisations, candidates undertake key core courses.

These courses provide the candidates with a wide and in-depth knowledge of the areas of computer science and its state-of-the-art applications.

  • Candidates can select from a choice of specialisation modules. Each module comprises four courses, which together form a coherent emphasis of study.

Program will be offered at our Unimas Campus in Kota Samarahan. Candidates must complete the following modules:

  1. Four Core Courses, totaling 16 credits
  2. Four Specialisation Courses, totaling 16 credits
  3. Two Research Courses, totaling 4 credits
  4. An Advanced Project

  2. Information Infrastructures
  3. Multimedia Communications
  4. Web-based Applications Development
  5. Specialization Courses

Networking

  1. Internetworking Programming
  2. Emerging Network Technologies
  3. Network Security

Geographical Information Systems

  1. Image Processing for Remote Sensing
  2. Spatial and Temporal Database
  3. Modeling and Visualization for GIS
  4. GIS for Decision Support

Knowledge Management and Intelligent Systems

  1. Knowledge Based Systems and Expert Systems
  2. Knowledge Management for Knowledge Workers
  3. Data Mining and Data Warehousing
  4. Intelligent Systems 

Research Courses

  1. Research Methodology
  2. Seminar Series

Duration

18 - 48 months

Fees

The full fee for this programme is RM17,000.00 for Malaysian student and RM24,000.00 for International student. Fees must be paid in full when registering for the programme. Students supported by the government, employers or other sponsors should bring letters from their sponsors addressed to UNIMAS confirming that the fees will be paid directly.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements for the programme are as follows:

  1. A Bachelor degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and above;
  2. Other equivalent qualifications approved by UNIMAS Senate.

* For International Students, an IELTS Score of 6.0 or TOEFL equivalent is required.
