SYNOPSIS

Keselamatan serantau di Asia Pasifik telah mengalami satu perubahan selepas tamatnya Perang Dingin. Selaras dengan perubahan ini, kursus ini menganalisa isu keselamatan serantau yang banyak mempengaruhi rantau Asia Pasifik. Antara beberapa isu keselamatan yang dikaji adalah definisi dan konsep keselamatan (security) serta konsep-konsep keselamatan yang relevan, kemunculan dan pengaruh kuasa-kuasa besar seperti Amerika Syarikat, China dan India, isu tuntutan wilayah, pakatan tentera, institusi berbagai hala (multilateralism), terrorism,institusi keselamatan seperti ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF),Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) dan mekanisma lain yang digunakan dalam mengendalikan isu-isu keselamatan ini.

(Regional security in Asia Pacific has undergone changes after the end of the Cold War. In line with these changes, this course identifies regional security issues, which influence the region as a whole. Some of the issues covered are the definition and concept of security, the presence and influence of the United States and China, territorial claims and disputes, military alliances, multilateralism, terrorism, the role of security institution like the ASEAN Regional Forum and the mechanism involved in handling security issues.)
