COURSE TITLE

PLANT AND ANIMAL BIOTECHNOLOGY (Bioteknologi Tumbuhan dan Haiwan)

COURSE CODE

STB2143

SYNOPSIS

The course includes the understanding of basic molecular biology techniques, DNA recombinant technique and the application of these techniques to plants and animal cells. Introduction to the basic theories underlying the biotechnology inplant DNA recombinant. Various molecular biology techniques will be discussed such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), the restriction enzymes for gene manipulation and vectors for cloning and transformation into plants and animal cells. The students will also be introduced to the new techniques available and review the advances of plant and animal genome manipulations.
