SYNOPSIS

Sampling methods and Analysis is introduced to students as an essential scientific investigation towards the methodology of data collection via observational sampling. The advantages and disadvantages of sampling methods/techniques commonly used in biological investigation and their appropriateness under a particular situation are discussed. Data analysis techniques taught in STF1093-Statistics for Biology I and beyond, will be utilized. The students are also required to conduct a simple sampling procedure to solve a specific problem given by the lecturer or which the student themselves identify, for a mini-project. The use of spreadsheets and available statistical software for data compilation and analyses will fully utilized.

(Kaedah persampelan dan analisis diperkenalkan kepada Pelajar sebagai alat penyelidikan utama, untuk kaedah pengumpulan data melalui persampelan pemerhatian. Kelebihan dan kekurangan kaedah-kaedah persampelan untuk penyelidikan biologi dan kesesuaian kaedah-kaedah itu untuk mana-mana situasi, akan dibincangkan. Teknik analisis data yang telah diajar dalam kursus STF1093 dan analisis-analisis lain, akan digunakan. Pelajar akan dikehendaki untuk menjalani projek mini, yang akan diagihkan oleh pensyarah atau atas pilihan sendiri. Pengunaan spreadsheet dan program statistik yang sedia ada, akan dimanafaatkan sepenuhnya.)
