COURSE TITLE

INORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1 (Kimia Bukan Organik 1)

COURSE CODE

STK1123

SYNOPSIS

This course will develop the concepts of descriptive and theoretical inorganic chemistry. Topics include atomic structures, molecular bonding theory, valency theory, oxidation and reduction reaction, structure and symmetry in molecules. Chemical properties of main group elements, including Noble gases, will be discussed with special emphasis on their periodical properties. Transition metals will be covered, emphasizing coordination chemistry and ligand theory and concentrating on the first transition series. Special topics such as catalyst and bio-inorganic chemistry of coordination compounds will also be included.
